Hello, I’m Minimalist Melody. I was born and raised in Hawaii, and I now live in the South. Aside from making videos on More Melody, I also love my job as a court reporter and my cat Pat. My goal is to make minimalism innovative, meaningful, and enjoyable.
Here I focus on practical and theoretical concepts within minimalism: I want a smart home, but also a harmonious inner and social life. I have delved back into the green community, and have been enjoying it. A lot of new posts will be on organization, philosophy, and green living.
The reason I became a minimalist 10 years ago was because I wanted to live a life of meaning and build it according to my imagination. I wanted as much freedom to move about while making a difference. Minimalism provides that and more. There are very few things needed for most for a happy life: close friends, a loved one, passion, and quality, favorite items. I think that the simple life is the happiest life, so long as it doesn’t go to your head haha. Restraint brings focus and even greater pleasure than indulgence. Everything means more, the less you have. Life is to be savored; the slow life is a life where habits stick.
I think of minimalism as a guidepost, not as a cause or ideology with rules. There is nothing restrictive about minimalism, and it varies from person to person. Try it, not just with possessions, but errands too. Simplicity changes lives by bringing the time-tested wisdom of simplicity into today. A lot is competing for your attention and spirit, but nothing is worth giving up your values. Put your own touch on simplicity — mine is modern and practical — and it will change your life and many more.
